This weekend was not my best.
The work part was good. Busy, but good. I had a family gush over how wonderful I was. A boss gave me amazing compliments (and then said I would start training for charge nurse. I knew something was up!). My fun weekend posse was there.
The rest was crap.
It was sunny outside, and I was not out in it.
As a Mother's Day Present, I got my period. And nobody really says much to you on Mother's Day if all you've had is a miscarriage. Add the joy of being surrounded by pregnant people, and it was sheer pleasure on a cracker.
But I'm mistaken, something good did happen.
Kevin made me dinner. The classics. Steak. Mashed potatoes. Asperagus. And he opened a GOOD bottle of wine. 1998 Terra Haute Merlot. One of our "saver" bottles.
Why are we drinking this? I asked.
For hope. He responded.
But today was perfect. 80+ degrees. I walked the dogs and read in the sunshine. Kevin is on the road to getting his retirement plan in order (thanks Jay!) I have on my sunless tanner and I think it's working. I've discovered a fab author, Charlaine Harris, and all her books are at the library. Well, now they're all at my house.
And I got my glasses. Kate Spade eyewear. How could I resist something Kate Spade that insurance would cover? I'll post pictures in a few weeks when they show up.
I am ready for the heat. For summer.

So will your glasses be around when I get to Seattle next month? :)
