Clothes

I'm sick of maternity clothes (and pants that fall off my ass everytime I bend over), but I'm stuck with them a few months more. Motivated to get our bedroom cleaned up and prodded by my husband to clear the space, I went through my four containers of non-pregnancy clothes.

And I was RUTHLESS.

I'm a terrible shopper. I'll buy something so-so because it's on sale, then hate it every time I wear it. But I don't want to throw it out because "it's still good" and "I spent money on it."

Mom, you probably recognize these statements because I learned them from you.

But I want to have space in my closet for clothes I actually like to wear. This means I have to stop shopping like a teenager and get some quality in my closet. Clothes and suit me and will last!

So if was worn out, it was tossed. Ditto for too tight, too short, too old, or just too not-working-anymore. And no Mom, I didn't save them all for "working in the yard." My mom will save every old pair of jeans and tee-shirts for painting and yardwork. When we cleaned out her closet (painfully, as she still had dressy outfits from the eighties. Just because she still fit them doesn't mean she should wear them) Mom had 20 pairs of yard-work jeans.

But I made the mistake of trying on my pre-pregnancy pants. All too tight, even my "fat" pants that I wore into second trimester. Sniff.

I bounced back pretty quick after Patrick. Kevin has since reminded me of a few key differences.

1. Twenties vs. Thirties. They aren't kidding.
2. First vs. Second baby, when I had lots of time to go on long walks
3. Summer vs. Winter baby, and it's lots easier to walk in the sunshine than freezing wind.

So I'll be patient with myself, get outside as much as possible, and put the cookies down. As soon as they are all gone.

No kidding. For me, bouncing back to even better shape after the Boy seemed effortless, no so much after either Girl ... good luck!

I agree with you on the difficulty of having a winter baby. I was looking forward to having time to exercise on maternity leave, forgetting that it's not so easy to walk outside in the middle of rainy season. You are not alone in the too-tight pants issue, but I have a feeling you will look even more fabulous soon!

I whole heartedly support your decision to get rid of clothes that don't make you feel good when you wear them. Life is too short to wear a blah shirt just because you spent money on it.
hmmm.... In fact i just had a idea. You will find out.
I miss you guys!
