I've had a nice bit of pampering on my days off. Lucky me, as my poor husband toils away at the theater in preparation for opening "Wait Until Dark" this Friday. But with the new Artistic Director going like gangbusters on projects, Kevin has seen some relief with his job. While still busy, he finally has an involved, supportive boss who is coming in with some lovely ideas to take the theater to the next level. Very exciting.

After two long days at work (and what 12 hour shift isn't long?), my back was ready for a break. The back discomfort has really been my only complaint with an overall fabulous pregnancy. And I've loved being pregnant. I love The Belly. I love the new-and-improved boobs. I love getting to park in the "expectant mother" space at Metropolitan Market. But I don't have a great back to being with (thanks Swansons), I have an on-my-feet, heavy lifting job, and I figured my back would hurt.

It does.

So Wednesday started with a chiropractic session. I'm going to start going on a more regular basis, probably once a week, and perhaps throw a massage therapy appointment in as well. Then I went to Target and spent my allowance monies on Burt's Bees Belly Balm and Belly Oil. Yum. Also snagged some new t-shirts, as the second trimester shirts aren't doing the trick anymore.

The Massage. Heaven. There is nothing better than hanging out in a bathrobe and letting somebody else rub your feet. Unless it's being naked on a warmed massage table while somebody rubs every (appropriate) square inch of my aching pregnant body. Worth every cent, and I told Kevin I was going to get another one next month. I sweetened the pot by telling Kevin he should get another 90 minute massage after the last show of the season opens. I bought him one as a surprise last year when 1776 was near to killing him. He's thinking this is a great idea.

After taking a nap, walking the dogs, having lunch with Kevin at work, I hit my evening prenatal yoga class. I loved the first class, and I signed up for regular classes. This time, not being a holiday, there were 8 ladies between 18 and 34 weeks. A few familiar faces: new friend Kara, old friend Raissa. It's a wonderful environment to connect with other moms and take care of ourselves. I've been taking complete advantage of having a First Baby. I'm taking lots of time to do nice things for myself. I'm taking naps. I'm getting my nails done. I'm enjoying the down time. I'm having fun getting ready. I'm well aware the next time around I'll be chasing Patrick around with no time for naps (sniff). Hopefully, the yoga will also help my back. And after Patrick is born, they have a Mom and Baby class! The evening ended with a visit to Lena's. Her man is off at a business trip in NYC while she's single parenting for four days. Guess who has it rougher? By the time I arrived, the kiddos were in bed. We had two hours of uninterrupted girl time. Lovely.

Today was filled with grand ambitions of housecleaning.

yeah.

The second trimester rush of energy has come to a close, I think. If I'm not waking up to pee, I'm waking up because my back aches. So I don't sleep that great. And don't say, "Oh, just like when you'll have a baby." I don't have the baby yet, and I'd like to sleep for more than 2 hours at a time, thanks. But I got the dogs out, did some grocery shopping, and made some tasty treats for Kevin's dinner. Lemon Risotto, Asparagus with Dijon vinaigrette, and Rhubarb Crumb. I met him for dinner at work, he wolfed it down, and I hung out until my pedicure appointment.

Girl Talk Salon is charming. I've been there a few times before, but it takes planning. They're so busy! So I was thrilled to get an appointment. My toes are now a pretty sparkly pink. I can't wait to make another appointment next month.

The dogs are sleeping on various beds. Patrick is giving me lazy kicks and nudges. Kevin should come home soon. What a nice day it's been.

Lemon Risotto, Asparagus with Dijon vinaigrette, and Rhubarb Crumb - sounds delicious. Remember that when I come down sometime. Glad you were pampered this week.
