I went home from work sick yesterday. Normally I'm a tough-it-out kind of girl, even if pregnancy has made me a grouchy wimp. But after (ahem) getting sick in the charge-nurse office bathroom, I figured I was doing nobody any favors by sticking around. And we've had some sick patients on our floor, scary for all us nurses but a little more freaky when your pregnant. H1N1 is here and it is wicked.
Naturally, the news stories focus more on the few tragic deaths and not the majority of people, who feel like shit and then get better. But there have been some bad outcomes for a few pregnant women. I'll be getting that vaccine the first chance I get. But I refuse to live like a hermit. I'm still going to church, the park, and the store. I might avoid the mall, however. And I need to throw that hand sanitizer in my purse.
I crashed into bed around 2pm and stayed there for the next 18 hours. Felt pretty yucky, but didn't get sick again. Fiona reassured me of her well-being by kicking and squirming. Lovely for my Mommy-heart, not so great for my stomach. Kevin was a dream husband, took care of Patrick all evening and didn't even let the kid know I was home. And he cleaned up so the house would be nice for me the next day. He missed rehearsal so he could be home with me. "Baby, I'm sorry if the vacuuming woke you up." I told him that he NEVER need to apologize for running a vacuum. Ever.
While I'm still a bit worn down, I'm feeling pretty good. 24 hours without symptoms, free and clear to return to normal. Thanks to Raissa, Kevin had a home cooked meal tonight (thanks babe!) and I'll have my busy boy with me tomorrow. It's going to be a rough winter for illness, so please be good to yourselves and stay home if you are sick!

Glad you're better!
I got the H1N1 vaccination last Friday from my OB...hopefully it's available for you soon.
I'm so sorry you were sick. But glad you are feeling better. Let's hope you get that vaccine soon. See you on Saturday.
