Halloween was a big success this year. With the exception of Patrick discovering he was scared of Halloween decorations. But I've got to give my boy probs. He never threw a fit about any of it, just quietly covered his eyes and buried his head in my chest.

I had big plans for various events. But, you know, life got in the way of my schedule. So it ended up being quite simple. Pumpkin patch. Pumpkin carving. Trick or treating. Kevin was unfortunately working, but Mom was sweet and came up to join the party and spoil me rotten...I mean, support my parenting.

We went with an easy costume. Soccer player. I already had the clothes, he could stay warm, and I wasn't worried about a last minute costume rebellion. We joined some good friends and their horde of children for trick-or-treating. The weather was perfect with a big beautiful full moon. A nice three block route with just enough houses for a good experience. Patrick took my Mom up to most of the houses, said/signed Thank You (he's started saying 'you' with the sign!) and "Bye" to everybody. Some of the more highly decorated houses got the hands over the eyes. But he did good. And he got a pretty good stash! Unfortunately, some of it wasn't exactly appropriate for a toddler, but perfect for parents! Candy for us! And Patrick's stash will be perfect for emergency shopping food needs. Yeah!

Later I realized these were the only two pictures I got of Patrick in his costume.

Today Mom cleaned my oven. Rather than be worried about what she thinks of my housekeeping, I'm grateful and say thank you. And my oven looks pretty nice. I think the last time it got this clean was when she cleaned it after Patrick was born. I try to convince her she doesn't have to do chores, but there is no stopping her. So I at least try to feed her well. Tonight we had corned beef in the crock pot with potatoes and carrots.

Mom, my desire for you to retire is totally altruistic. Really. I swear.

Kevin is at the first tech week rehearsal, with opening night on Friday. I think I'll get to see him on Thursday, but he'll be so worn out he won't be any use to me. I've already been warned that Thursday is his break day. Other than parenting, he's not going to do any chores. I suppose he's earned it.

And I've voted!

GG wanted to see pictures of Patrick but since I didn't take any - I knew I could count on you to put pictures on your blog. Oh well ..... Maybe when we come up at Thanksgiving you can put him in his Halloween outfit!
And the corned beef dinner was very good. Thanks.

I have a picture of Patrick (with all the other kids) that you can have.
