As I write this, you are in your sling (the beloved Baby K'Tan) nursing. In the last month, you have become a bit persnickity. Or anti-napping. Or pro-awake, if you want to be all optimistic about it. I'll set you down in your crib having nursed you to sleep, only to find you protesting the hardship of it all ten minutes later. You still sleep very well at night. This allows me to be much more tolerant during the daytime. You just get so distracted during the day, and there are so many interesting things to check out. Usually, it's your brother. Or the dogs.
I feel like in this last month you've made a million changes. You hold your head up perfectly well, both sitting up and on your tummy. You can roll over from back to forth and back again. It's official: I can not leave you alone and expect to find you in the same spot. And you are such a wiggleworm! Getting diapers on you is the biggest challenge. But being able to play naked always works to get you cheerful. As this is also your brother's favorite game, I'm sensing a theme in our household.
You are smiling, giggling, and cooing all the time. It's fun to watch strangers get your attention to make you smile. You watch cautiously for a moment, then reward their efforts with a full body grin. But you really smile at your brother now. And he loves you so much. We know, because he says so all the time. Can barely get him to say he loves his parents, but he'll talk about you constantly. We hear him telling you things we say, and it's so sweet. "Baby, be happy. It's Ok." Patrick always has a running commentary on what you are doing. We can finally understand about 80% of what he's saying, so it's great.
See that bump on your chest? It's high, near your shoulder. That's called a hemangioma, and it has the potential to cost us lots of money. You weren't born with it, but it slowly developed as you grew. There is a large vascular pad underneath it, and from some angles it gives you cleavage. We are going to have it checked out at the big Children's Hospital, at a clinic that you have to have permission to attend. Your doctor sent over your records for approval before we could even make the appointment. I have a suspicion they might recommend laser surgery because the vascular pad is so large. Naturally, your Daddy and I will seriously consider all the options. We'd like if it didn't cost thousands of dollars, however.
You complete our family, my sweet girl.
Love,
Mommy
