I decorated my house for Christmas today. This was not as enjoyable as normal. One, I'm not having a very good day today. Discouraged, frustrated, feeling QUITE sorry for myself. Two, I always want MORE when decorating: more space, more stuff, more lights, more candles. I'm a fan of the "more is more" philosophy regarding holiday decor. But it's looking rather pretty, especially with lots of pointsettias and greenery on the mantle. I think I'll put a live tree on the front porch and throw some lights on it. I'd love to have a tree inside the house, but due to pre-existing conditions find this a bad idea.
1. Nowhere to place said tree in living room
2. A live tree would cause my husband to have difficulty breathing, and a man cannot knock-up his wife during an asthma attack. I have priorities.
3. Danica and Freya can be a tad unpredictable with Christmas decorations. Danica, in the past, has decapitated one snowman and eaten the face off another snowman. Guess she's got a "thing."
So the porch it is. We'll be in Vancouver for the holidays. I've got four days in a row off work. My mom's folks are in town, so we'll be doing the Grandparent thing down there. Two years in a row with out-of-town guests for Christmas! I kind of like this traditional bent, sure beats the years of joint custody.
Tomorrow I'll head down and do mini-Thanksgiving with Mom, David, and Craig. Having done the cooking thing, we're doing the going out for dinner at Gustav's thing. Yeah, Fondue! I'll bring the dogs, and Kevin (who has a few hours to work) will do stuff around the house because he RULES.
Heard at my house several days ago:
"It's not Christmas, it's Sex-mas."
And no, I won't put it into context.
