1. Kevin has finished Abduction with the Tacoma Opera. It was an amazing show. Funny! Great voices, and very unique staging. They called it, "Semi-staged." The director did some amazing, creative work integrating the audience, the musicians, even an usher. Everything went great, and Kevin was brilliant, of course. They got some great press , and here as well. Next is La Boheme in the spring, and Kev is the ASM. Last year the group was VERY FUN (lots of wine). We'll see if this group is up to the challenge. Now he's onto the next show.....
2. The Secret Garden opens this weekend. More of a kid's show, but if you have kids that's a good one. I like the book, but I'm not as huge on the staged version. I'm helping a bit with the set painting, and I'm very hopeful that Kevin won't be finishing it 30 minutes before the show opens. Didn't help that he got the design late. But it's really coming together, and it's a less intense set then the last one.
3. I took care of a little 16 year old having her first baby (better than having her second, which does happen). She was the most mature one in the room, and this includes her mother. Yikes.
4. The Messiah is coming along amazing! I'm so excited about this concert, and I'd love to see anybody their who could fit it into their schedule. It's Saturday, December 10th at 7:30pm at First United Methodist Church. Call 253 272 7264 for tickets. If you look at the picture on the website, I'm on the right! With shorter hair.
5. I voted yesterday, like a very good girl. Now I don't have to hear anymore stupid ads. I hate fucking ads.
6. I saw Betsy Chasse at Tacoma Borders on Saturday. She's one of the screenwriters for What The Bleep Do We Know, a movie that everybody should see as soon as possible. I finally learned how to describe the movie in one sentence. It's about the link between science and spirituality. Eye opening and brilliant. It's appealing to even skeptical types. I bought their book, listened to her answer questions for 45 minutes (including several of mine!), and had it autographed. They are re-releasing a longer movie version next year, so people can see it in the theater. Can't wait.
I'm sure there are some typos, but I'm too lazy to find them.
