Kevin and I saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this weekend. Amazing. Brilliant. Perfect. The screenwriter did a wonderful job of streamlining the story for a tight movie plot. Good movement of the storyline that included the necessary ingredients to tell the story and further character growth. Yes, I could write a huge list of what I WISH they could have included. I would have loved to see the World Quiddich Championships. I missed the details about veelas. I wanted to see the kids doing more magic. I always want more Draco and Snape (because they are delicious, evil characters). But as it was done with Lord of The Rings, the core story was well-told: Harry's confrontation of his fears and grows as a wizard, and how this affects/effects the arrival of Lord Voldemort.
Then I purchased The Polar Express, which I saw last year in the theater by myself. Me and all the five year olds at a Tuesday matinee. Charming Christmas movie. I'll watch it tonight as I start decorating the house. But I chose not to buy the 2-disc set. It was more money, and the extras weren't appealing enough to justify the cost increase. It's not enough to watch them once, I want something worth watching over and over. I want the soundtrack, but I'll wait until it goes on sale. Naturally.
