The Tacoma Symphony is performing Vaughn Williams' "The Sea Symphony" Saturday, April 8th at the Pantages. It's bitchin' hard and has kicked my ass six ways to Sunday. And to all the lovely people who ask, "Oh, do you have a solo?" God Bless you for the flattery, but no, not a chance in hell. But it's a pretty fantastic piece of music. It's grown on me quite a bit as I've spent hours practicing the sucker. All big chords and lush sweeps of music. Nothing subtle about it.
