presents from you?

I'm a greedy bugger. I love presents. All the time, for any reason, and I really don't care what it is. Useful or not. Put a bow on it, and I'd write you a thank you note for a head of iceburg lettuce.

Because my momma raised me right, I always write my thank you notes. Even if you gave it to me in person. Earlier this year I had to email TWICE to ask if somebody's kid had received our gift in the mail. Somebody else never acknowledged a mailed birthday gift. You know what I think of those sort of manners.

Therefore! Thank You Notes Mandantory!

Which reminds me that I forgot to write MariClaire a thank you note for a sweet gift bag a few months ago. Damn. Sorry MC. It's on the list. I guess the mandantory part should also include timely.

After seven hours of work I raced home, discussed DramaDrama with Kevin, drove the dogs to There's No Place Like Home (sniff, I HATED leaving them), bought Spanx nylons to suck it all in, bought a new purse because my fancypants one has a tear, packed way too much for 24 hours in Vegas, got a manicure and my eyebrows waxed for super cheap and it looks pretty good, and shaved my legs and other bits.

What a LOVELY surprise to spy flowers and candy from Trader Joes on my porch! With no card! Who is it from? I must must must write a thank you note! We scoured the yard with no success. So please, tell me who my new favorite person is.

Dear New Favorite Person: Thank you so much for the wonderful flowers and tasty chocolate. I like them a lot. I'm glad I will be home all week (after Vegas) to enjoy my cheerful flowers and eat candy all day.
Smoochies, Me

Sigh. I'm jealous. I suck at thank you notes. And I know it. And am working on it. But lucky for you, while I fail at thank-yous, I like to give surprises. Forgive me? :) Hopefully with life a little less in chaos with the new job I'll get my thank-yous in order, too. But do know they're always in my heart. So let me say now, thank you for all your friendship, love, support, chitter-chatter, good-wishes, making me dinner that one time after Eddie was born, and so many other things. And you're welcome for making you look all over the yard for a card. (I did want to include one, but there were none at Trader Joes that fit ... so I chose to torture you rather than not deliver some sunshine to your front door.) Smooches and hugs until I get to see you -- SOON!
