We celebrated Lena's 30th birthday today. Almost a month after the fact, but that's not important. All five of my girls made it: Lena, Alicia, Emily, Raissa, and myself. Without the children, without the husbands. Such a blast, a Big Fine Time.

Per Lena's decree, we met at C.I. Shenanigan's. None of us had even been to their Sunday brunch. I'd never even heard of it. It was amazing! The food, oh dear Lord, where to start. Bacon. Strawberries dipped in the chocolate fountain. Shrimp cocktail. Steamed clams. Cheesy potatoes. Fresh ham and roast beef. Pavolva (my favorite dessert ever). And this amazing deal where you only pay $2.00 and they keep giving you sparkling wine! Just gorgeous.
So we talking about husbands, children, vacations, houses, husbands. We decided that we LOVE men who can Fix Things. We are afraid that we'll never be able to afford another house besides the one we live in. We really like being able to get together and are frustrated that it's so hard to meet outside of playgroups. Emily is under strict orders to join the party more in the summer when she's out of school. We'd also like her to get a hot tub before then, for us to loll about in while the husbands (known as men who fix things) get the fire going in their dandy fire pit.
It was perfect. I can't wait to do it again. From left to right: myself, Raissa, Lena (the old one), Emily, and Alicia. I don't know how the place survived such cuteness.
