A week in review

I worked a lot. Kevin's opera is going strong and keeping him very busy. My house is not nearly as pretty as when he was a full time househusband. But he still feeds me good!

We were blessed to have Kevin's folks (Hi Papa and Nana!) babysit for Patrick last weekend while we both had work. I barely saw them, but we got to have a great dinner together Saturday night. They played lots, read books, and took several walks. Kevin and I were so grateful they were able to come and help out, and Patrick had the best time with his grandparents.

On Monday I finally made it to Mommy and Baby Yoga. It was so wonderful to go every week while on maternity leave, and I miss attending regularly. The class was full with lots of newer moms; babies from seven weeks to four months. All kicking and cooing on their backs. Then there was Patrick, all eight months of him crawling around and banging his toys during meditation time. I remember seeing these big babies when Patrick was a newborn, and now I'm the one with a bit of experience under my belt. A very interesting change of roles.

Tuesday and Wednesday, more working.

On Thursday, I looked at the clock and it was 1:30pm. I wondered what the hell I'd done all day. Then it was 7pm, Patrick was in bed, and I still didn't have an answer.

Today was fabulous. Grabbing coffee with Lisa and Oleg turned into a four-top playdate with me, Lisa, Raissa, and Lena. Plus all the kiddos, of course. Lisa hosted, made bread, and lets the kids trash her house. I've gladly taken on the role of the L-family driver, as I can walk my child and carseat to Raissa's house. I'm in love with her van, so everybody wins! Then I headed over to Jenny-from-work's house to hang with her kids, drink tea, gossip, and mentally remodel her house. Patrick ate dinner, played, and was asleep by 7pm. I'm coloring my hair to look pretty for a birthday party tomorrow. It's at The Little Gym. The punch will be spiked. Should be awesome.

Nancy, my mom, is hard at work. Her dad suffered another stroke this week, days before he and my grandmother were to fly out to the west coast and a new home in a retirement facility. He is no longer able to live independently, although he's made decent progress over the past few days in rehab. Our goal is to get him better and fly him out as soon as possible. It's just more complicated. Say a prayer.
