I am loving this warm weather. Even pregnant, I can just soak it up. But I'm not foolish enough to attempt walks in the peak of it. Learned that lesson back in April! But sitting in the yard with a book while Freya sniffs around and Danica plays fetch, that's working great. I was able to be on call Sunday, go home early on Saturday, and I'm currently on call for Wednesday, so I've had lots of lovely breaks.
Nesting has started. I've washed my obscene amount of newborn to 3 month baby clothes. Stuff is getting out of bags an into organized containers. The bookshelf is all painted a pretty orange. Kevin and I are figuring out what we desperately need before Patrick arrives, and what can be purchased during the summer. Thank you everybody again for all the hand-me-downs. I continue to be so grateful for all the generosity.
Danica has done something to her hips. Several nights ago, she missed while jumping onto the bed. Now she avoids stairs at all costs. She walks without limping and still wants to play fetch in the backyard, but her demeanor is significantly subdued compared to her normal, hyperactive self. Last night, as Kevin and I were trying to figure out why she was so mopey, we started scaring ourselves pretty good. Was it heat, paint fumes, upset stomach? Once we got a better idea of her discomfort, we could relax a touch. So no walks for the dogs for a few days, Danica's bed is downstairs, and hopeful she'll feel better by next week. If not, we get to support our local vet. No point in going now, she's only been sore for 24 hours and other than expensive tests (which would likely be inconclusive), they'd say, "Let's watch her for a bit and see what happens." The times before we've made ourselves wait on a doggy symptom, they've always done better a few days out. And to be honest, money is a factor. And Danica is playing, eating, drinking, going potty, and walking normally. She's just doing it minus stairs and at a lower intensity level. Poor puppy. I can't wait to have my hyper girl back.

I'm so sorry to hear about Danica's boo-boo. I do hope she's back to her happy self soon. It seems like everybody's having pet emergencies these days... We had to take Kronos (our kitty) to the Tacoma Emergency Pet Hospital Sat. night - or I guess I should say Sun. morning as it was 2am! Well, he ended up having a urinary tract infection & it cost us $155 right at the end of the month (when cash flow is seriously low). All the websites I looked up his symptoms on said to see a vet ASAP b/c cats can die within 24-48 hours if there is blockage. Scary, but thankfully crisis mainly averted! Anyway, I hope your situation is turns out easier than ours!!
Hope Danica is herself soon.
