Portrait Session

Last week, Kevin and I had some fancy maternity pictures taken. I wanted some Good pictures taken of my pregnant self, and I wasn't sure I'd be up to the challenge after this first time. But I don't think I'm very photogenic. People are always sweet and argue with me, because I always throw away pictures where I don't look very good. It's a good technique.

Jessica, one of our lovely nurses, had a baby last winter. She had beautiful pictures taken of her and her sweetheart and her gorgeous belly. We all thought she looked like a model. While she's gorgeous to begin with, Jessica raved about the lady who did their pictures. Not only were the pictures great, she had lots of fun, and the price wasn't out of control.

We had a blast. Monica takes portraits as it suits her, out of her living room. She made us feel quite comfortable (I wasn't exactly dressed in most of the pictures), and her five year old daughter did everything she could to be useful to her mother. We spent nearly two hours at her house, trying out various poses. Monica kept asking me if their was anything particular I wanted. For the most part, I said I just wanted to look pretty. But towards the end, I figured we should take a picture where both Kevin and I had shirts on, just in case somebody wanted a work-safe picture. Or my grandparents want one.

We'll probably take Patrick soon after he's born (3-5 weeks, can't believe it!) and have some newborn pictures taken. Who knows how long it will take to see the prints, as Monica is a full time mom with four kids and a husband overseas in the Middle East, but if they look half as wonderful as Jessica's, I think I'll be tickled. Her website, under the "Maternity" category, has lots of poses that Kevin and I attempted, just to get an idea.
