Overall, doing great

So forgive a pregnant lady who gets a little lazy towards the end. Longer than a week between writing. Shameful, that's what it is. But I have loads of news so I'll take a few separate entries.

Overall, the end of the pregnancy has come pretty fast. I'm surrounded by people who expect that the end just drags. But that hasn't been the case for me. All the sudden I'm saying, "about four to six weeks left, God willing." And the God willing part is that it won't come sooner. People who don't know I'm a maternity nurse make comments like, "well, it's OK if the baby comes early." Sure, after 37 weeks the baby won't need nursery care, but there are always concerns about feeding, temperature regulation, and lung development. So for me, a baby born between 39 and 41 weeks would be lovely. The first trimester was slow as a slug. I was so filled with worry and anxiety about the health of my pregnancy that I couldn't get to 14 weeks fast enough. And as Patrick (and my belly) grew, I've loved watching the changes. Haven't loved the weight gain as much, but it's part of the package.

However, I am more uncomfortable. I feel heavy and awkward, and nothing comes easily anymore. Some chores I've just put off until later. Yard work is on hold. So is organizing the shed. The dogs still get walked, but it's a shorter and slower walk. Patrick has dropped a bit, as evidenced by the increased pressure in my groin. Charming. His movement has kicked up a notch, sometimes rather painfully! Nothing like a foot trying to poke its way through my abdomen. But overall, it's a healthy, boring pregnancy and I'm exceedingly grateful for that.
