We started the morning driving to Ardmore. It's another small coast town, but not touristy/trashy. There was a cliff walk that was supposed to be quite stunning, and ruins of churches related to St. Declan, a contemporary of St. Patrick. We saw most of the ruins. It's different from the USA; nothing was guarded or roped off, no entrance fee, no fast food off to the side with a play area. Just beautiful ruins and a pamphlet from the tourist office/cafe.
Then it all went to hell.
The walk was overgrown, taller than our heads, blocking any hope of a view. We only survived 100 feet because there were bees anywhere. I'm not terribly fond of them, but Sugarbear HATES them. So we gave up the walk and headed back to the beach to walk and take pictures.
Then our memory card failed.
We lost 10 days worth of pictures. All of Dublin and Dingle. Our musical pub crawl. Our tour to St. Kevin's Church in Wicklow County. Memory card error.
Trying not to panic and failing dismally, we drove into Waterford, got lost, finally parked the car, and tried 3 different camera places. Nobody could help us.
I'm crying, Kevin's furious, and we are hating Waterford and everything associated with it. Telling ourselves, "if this is the worst that happens, we are fortunate," doesn't really work. We give ourselves one day for moping. We attempt to have fun at the Waterford Crystal Factory. We don't, we hate it. But we did buy a pretty Christmas ornament and engraved "Eire, 2005."
It was not a good day.
