After we returned from Waterford, we had serious work to do. There was some major moping going on. I needed to move. So after a mediocre dinner and fabulous crepes for dessert, I said to the husband, "Let's go on a walk!" Because he was bummed out and not paying attention, I tricked him into walking about 5km. But it was a great walk. On a path along the cliffs, stunning views. We took the bottle of Jameson as well :)
At a little park along the cliffs was a traditional swimming area. The city left up an old sign announcing the park was for "Men Only." Kids were swimming in this frigid water. And not all with wetsuits. Again, no rules and ropes and fees, as there would be in the US. Just an old concrete pier that people jumped off. Some more daring boys were cliff diving, showing off for each other and the girls.
We started singing as we walked, tricking ourselves into having fun. I sang Jimmy Buffett songs, Thryce Wycked Wenches music, and Garth Brooks. Anything I could remember lyrics to. Kevin could only remember power ballads, and then he made himself tearful again. We had a quick lesson in "Cheering ourselves up with songs." I'm happy to say he was a quick student and performed flawlessly after that.
The next morning we had another great breakfast by Maria and Neil, chatted with "Irish chatty man" at breakfast, and headed off to Wicklow and Jigsaw Cottage.
Kisses
Jenny
