Our last day in Dublin

This computer will not let me spell check. My apolegies.

We has our last night in a private room. So with all our stuff bundled up into the locker, we took the advice of our lovely tour guide, Kevin, and headed to the Kilmainham Gaol. Brilliant, closed in 1924, interesting example of prision and Irish history. During the famines, many people committed crimes to get into the jail because they actually had a better chance of survival. They would be fed at least once a day, and had rudimentary health care because officials were so concerned about disease in the jail. But our tour guide, Conor, was quite the scholar about the Irish Rebellion and Irish Independance. We learned quite alot about the Easter Uprising and the events before and after. If you want to learn about it, go to the library. I'm not going to type it all here.

We bought take out at Mark & Spencer, YUM! I had a chinese duck sandwich, and Kevin ate a roasted duck wrap. Kevin bought himself a new shirt at The French Connection. So when you see this stylish shirt, it's FCUK. Look carefully at the order of the letters. And I bought two new CD at Claddagh Records. How did I know what to buy? I asked the very helpful salesmen to pick out two great CD's for me.

After we made our way back downtown, we visited the National Museum. The Tara Brooch and the silver chalices were beautiful. We focused on the Viking and Norse history in Ireland. There was a replication of a small fishing boat and loads of iron work. Then we ran into the National Gallery, one of my favorite sites. I'm not a fan of modern art, but they had some amazing new aquisitions. I saw a Carravaggio, Vemeer, Monet, and a Picasso. I could have spend all day poking around here.

For dinner, we went to Davy Byrne's Pub. The pub was even famous before James Joyce. It was there we learned the history news: Katie Holms has indeed landed Tom "I'm not crazy just because I can't shut my mouth about Scientology" Cruise. I wonder if she'll give up heels like Nicole Kidman. Maybe now he'll just shut up about it for God's sake. What's to be it's just a huge publicity stunt for their summer movies? We spend the rest of the evening wandering around Temple Bar, had a, you guessed it, another beer, and returned to our bunk house.

Saturday we leave Dublin, rent our car! and head to Dingle.

Kisses
Jenny
