I have two dogs.
Now everybody reading this blog is doing so because I sent an email begging people to read it, and while I have no illusions of grandeur, I'm egotistical enough to want more readers than my sweetiebear and my mom (Hi Mom). Ya'll know I have two dogs. All I do is talk about my two dogs. You have stories about your challenges raising the darling children, I can relate it to dealing with my dogs. Slightly annoying habit, really.
And hey, I've never...ok rarely, had to deal with day care issues with my dogs. I know where my dogs will be while I'm at work. At home, sleeping on various pieces of furniture that more disciplined dog owners never let their dogs sleep on. And when I arrive home, they will be well resting and ready for me to fulfill my true purpose on this planet.
Throwing the ball and scratching the belly.
No surprise that our biggest concern about our vacation is placing our dogs in a kennel. We found a lovely yuppie kennel in Vancouver that (for an extra fee, of course) will take our dogs outside for 30 to 45 minutes a day. We worry they will be bored. Then we're disgusted with ourselves for worrying about the personal fulfillment of our dogs. But Mom has spoiled her daughter by watching the grandpuppy-dogs on past occasions. And she's pretty rocking at it! The first time she took Danica (yellow lab) for a weekend the dog, one year old at the time, came back with sore paws and slept for two days. She's the only woman alive who could wear out a Labrador and clean the kitchen when she's done.
But we've very cleverly planned for puppy withdrawal while overseas. The Bed and Breakfast we found in Wicklow County, Ireland, Jigsaw Cottage. It has pictures of dogs peppered on the website. I won't lie, it was a deciding factor in making our reservation.
But check it out. www.jigsawcottage.com
