It was an interesting night in the hostel.
We awoke at approximately 1:30 am to drunk Germans running up and down the hallway. We know they were German because they kept asking the French girls if they spoke German, if they could sleep in their room, then cursing roundly in German when they broke a glass bottle right outside our door. I also had a one sided conversation with one in the ladies' room. The ladies' room is NOT on the same floor as my room. I get to go down a flight of stairs. I'm glad I figured this out before I took a shower, and not after. Although it wouldn't have made a difference. A very nice English boy was using my shower, in the ladies' room, right before my turn. This must be what it was like to live in Foss (rowdy dorm at PLU for the non-college crowd. Don't worry parents. Our various dorms were single sex with no drunken evenings. Or we missed it while we were in Chapel EVERY DAY.)
Busy first day in Dublin. We had a lovely breakfast at Berkley's (porrage with cream and fruit), explored the food courts at Marks & Spencers, ate a healthy lunch at Blazing Salads (carrot and butter bean soup), had the largest portion of greasy fish and chips ever. Oh, and while not occupied with eating we visited various cultural sites.
Trinity College and The Book of Kells
Chester Beatty Library
The Guinness Storehouse
The museum was interesting, but fairly over-designed. Parts of it were difficult to read and follow, although all was redeemed by the pint of Guinness at the end. We actually SAT DOWN.
Then we wandered back to town, stopped by Lush for some shopping. Although Sweetiebear and I love new things, we aren't big shoppers on vacation. We'd rather eat and drink our hard earned play money. But we discovered this store in Oahu, and it's not the same to order it online. I'm too tactile. I want to have my hands on anything I buy. You could say I followed the same philosophy when choosing a husband. We both have bath bombs, my personal new favorite is "bollywood." Tonight, we'll spend some more time finding live music. The weather is just like Tacoma, rainy/cloudy/sunny.
And I really like not being at work.
Kisses
Jenny
