Kevin's show opened to a happy audience on Friday night. "The Seven Year Itch" is solid, funny, and overall a fantastic show. Everybody on stage, and back, has started off to a top weekend. Everyone should go see it, and it's WAY BETTER than the movie.
We spent the weekend relaxing and doing loads of fun things. Saturday morning we drove to Seattle for breakfast at Etta's, our fave Tom Douglas place. Kevin had the corned beef hash. He orders it everytime because it's the best thing on the menu. Plus, everyone else's corned beef hash is a disappointment in comparison. I had the most amazing french toast with berries and creme fresh. Then off to wander Pike Place Market for dinner supplies. I told Kevin we were having a Ploughman's Lunch (it turned out to be dinner). And it's much more fun to buy supplies at the market then at Fred Meyer's. Plus, I bought gorgeous tulips. I'm so ready for not-winter. Then we shopped REI and IKEA. Feeling a little peckish at IKEA, we had lunch for about $10, making me wonder why we don't go out to eat there more often. I wanted to look at crib sheets, which they surprisingly don't have. So I guess I'll have to look at Target. Then we crashed at home. I took the dogs for a good walk, and we settled in for a nice Ploughman's dinner, picinic-style on the floor. Danica and Freya were quite well behaved about the food. We think Danica might have licked the dry salami, but we chose to ignore that.
Ploughman's Dinner: Crusty bread, Branston Pickle (very British), apples and grapes, sharp chedder cheese, dry Italian salami. Tasty Tasty.
We watched part of Fantasia 2000 and a travel DVD on Northern Australia. A good evening.
Today we disovered the off-leash dog park at Fort Stillacoom. Fantastic. Several acres, entirely fenced, good little trails. The dogs ran the whole time. They've cracked down, per rumors of other dog-people, at Jefferson Park (our regular haunt). It's a good idea. While most people are thoughtful and considerate with their dogs, as the park has become more popular the owners have become lazy. There are too many people not cleaning up, not minding aggressive dogs, not controlling their dogs as they run towards small children. Freya's been especially naughty about chasing squirrles and not minding, therefore remaining on leash (except in the worst of weather) is a good plan. But Fort Stillicoom is easily worth the drive.
Then off to eat loads of food and root for the Colts! What an entertaining game. It certainly wasn't borning, and nice for a good team to win.
Parakeet seems to move more and more. I feel it the most in the morning and evening, probably because that's when I'm paying the most attention! Hopefully by Friday we'll have a little more information on this baby! Hope he or she cooperates. I have no idea, but everybody else keeps thinking girl. So I'll go with boy, just to be difficult.
