Timber

After my husband treated me to coffee this morning (decaf drip with room) from his allowance (it's like dating!), I rushed over to see my girlfriend, Jenny. She's a new work friend who had her second lovely baby about one month ago. Because I'm lazy about calling people and making plans, it's taken me this long to go see her. But she let me come over anyways. I spent a lovely time chatting with her, the-year-old daughter, sweet husband, and cooing over her new bald baby boy. I initially wanted to bring food. But Jenny's little man has a milk allergy, meaning Mommy also gets to have a milk allergy, meaning I couldn't think of a damn thing to cook. So I brought a potted tulips, a hunk of Better Than...Brownies, and a card.

However, I owe her a soy vanilla latte for allowing me to rumple through her old maternity clothes! It was like shopping, but free! Heaven. As she has dynamite tastes, everything was adorable. It was hard work not to look like a greedy pig and take everything, but I resisted. But I have a few pieces to wear now, and some great outfits for later in the pregnancy to look forward to. So thankful.

When I arrived home, a gigantic truck awaited me in the driveway. The Tree People had arrived.

Freya was not impressed, and it took much convincing to walk her past the loud truck and into the house.

Our two backyard Fir trees are gone. That extra $800 was just wasting away in the bank anyway.

Always hurts a bit to pay for something like that. It's overall quite unsatisfying. So I'll just remember that windstorm, lying awake at 3am, cuddled next to my husband as he soothed me back to sleep while those trees heavily swayed.

Now Kevin gets to cord the word and get rid of it. Neighbor Terry and his friend Dave asked what we'd do with it.

"Oh, probably just give it away on Craigslist."

They did not think this was a good plan. They thought giving it to them was much better. I agreed, especially when Terry offered to help him cord it.

With the Tree People bill on its way to my house, I was inspired to call and see if they needed extra help tomorrow. While they don't, they have my name to call as needed. I hate working extra, but I hate credit card debt even more. And my countdown is drawing to a close for easy extra shifts. So I better buck up.

There is no such thing as an easy little shift at work when you are pregnant. Whatever you do, don't sneeze if you have to pee. If you plan on doing that, plan on taking a change of clothes!
