12. The Food of Love by Anthony Capella (library) new book new author:
This book was perfect. Charming, funny, interesting storyline. Unconventional set-up of "boy gets girl." Lots of discussion regarding food, glorious Italian food. Similarly themes from "Like Water for Chocolate" emerge in the descriptions of Bruno's cooking, the idea that emotions invade a menu, that a dish can illuminate somebody's soul. The author also created a charming little website about The Food of Love, with recipes!
I'm tired today. Worked the last two days, and I'm just not in love with my job at the moment. Difficult to say why: I have a great collection of co-workers, bosses I respect, and occasionally my job is personally fulfilling. I took care of nice people today. I didn't feel plugged in, fully in tune with my surroundings. Does life ever feel foggy to you? Like you are simply spinning your turn on the merry-go-round, only to end up where you begun? I certainly have enough challenges going on to keep me entertained...maybe I need new shoes. Or lip gloss? I've discovered some new authors that I want to check out from the library. I have a day off tomorrow, here are my plans.
*Walk the puppies in the sunshine
*Pay bills (not fun but sense of accomplishment worthwhile)
*Mail multitude of birthday cards
*Visit Library
*Buy pumpkin candle from Bath and Body Works
*Have drinks with Lena and others at NPCC so we are discuss our sex lives, and our husbands
*Fertilize annuals
*Browse perennials at Watson's
*Take a nap
Doesn't this sound like a nice Wednesday?
Two precious kids. Two crazy dogs. One fabulous husband. And nothing remains quite the same.
