Week Two

Dear Patrick: Today you are two weeks old!

Your Nana and Popa think your face looks quite different. Grandma and I aren't as perceptive, we think you look pretty much the same, just a few ounces bigger. Not a skinny baby (like your mommy and daddy were), nor a fat one (like your Uncle Dave), you are what I would describe as well-packed.

Mommy is starting to get the hang of you. But I hate it when you cry, even for just a few seconds of protest after we buckle you in your car seat. Luckily, you haven't shown signs yet of true fussiness. Like your Mommy, you do quite well when you are getting your way. You love to be held, so we have some practice sessions to do with the Ergo carrier and your Bali Baby sling.

I never thought that feeding you, changing your diapers, and holding you could completely take over my day. I wake up with you at 6am, then all the sudden it's 4pm and I've never left the house. Thank goodness for Grandma, who is keeping things running while Daddy finishes up his bigbad work project. I'm hoping as I get the hang of feeding you, I won't be so shy to do it in public. Because you are such a voracious eater, I'm hesitant to be gone longer than 30 minutes from my Boppy pillow. Again, I'm hoping that will be easier with practice.

Being home with you is the most wonderful experience. I'm so fortunate and blessed that I have these 12 weeks to really get to know you. We are starting to see glimpses of your personality, and small baby smiles when you sleep. Daddy and I are madly in love with you, our little man.

Love
Mommy
