Dear Patrick: You are six weeks old! (yesterday)
Mommy has lots of pictures on her camera of you. She knows that all your Grandmas would just love to see them. But because she's a tech doofus, it will wait until Daddy has a spare moment. Given the joys of his job, that might be before you are two years old. We'll try to improve on that timeline to prevent family catastrophe.
You have hit what is known as the "Six Week Peak." You are a grumpy little buddy, particular in your needs while awake. What works changes on a regular basis. Tonight, hanging in the Bali Breeze Wrap is successful. Yesterday it was sitting on the bouncing ball with Grandma and (you guessed it), bouncing.
Do to your delightful personality at the moment, you would be a lot more appealing if you started smiling. We get occasional glimpses, but they are fleeting and probably related to your bowels than anything Mommy and Daddy are doing.
Daddy gave you your first bottle the other day, and I was pretty sad about it. Because feeding you is the one thing that only I can do to comfort you. I was so afraid that you'd like it better than me. Luckily, that is not proving to be the case, and I maintain my status as your personal cow.
You also slept your longest stretch last night. From 9:30pm to 3:30am. Six Hours! It really made up for your hourly meetings the night before.
I must confess, you are rather boring at times in this baby blob phase. Mommy has quickly gotten over feeling guilty for reading a book or listening to her iPod while you eat. She has no desire to be a "Supermom." "Perfectly Good Mom" is my going goal. And I'm doing a fine job.
Despite your grumpy phase, you are still our special little guy. We wouldn't trade you for any other baby (mostly).
Love
Mommy

You are right - more pictures are good but I love getting to hear about him too. I am also challenged regarding our digital camera so i can't complain much. I think i need to come up for another quick visit this month. see you soon little Patrick!

Ha! I remember having those same wishes -- wanting our daughter to start smiling, moving, *anything*... this was the period in time when the cat kept showing off all the cool things HE could do. "Meredith, can you roll over?" and Walter would luxuriously stretch and roll... "Can you 'say' something, Meredith?" and Walter would meow... hang in there! He'll be all over the place before you know it!
